Susanne Bennett
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I have a nursing career and currently work part time at Goulburn Valley Grammar School. I'm a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt with a strong belief in women being educated and independent. I belong to the Caniambo CWA and Dookie Lifestyle, enjoy growing food and cooking. I have a small herd of milking sheep and with a rural background and love of the land, my husband and I are commencing a farming venture near Benalla.
What's the inspiration behind what you do?
I'm inspired to be a positive role model as I age. Remaining connected to current thinking and continually expanding horizons, with a focus on ethical responsibilities towards individuals, especially women, families and the environment.
Do you have a role model or a person that has inspired you throughout your life?
- Jane Austin- an independent woman not influenced by the social norms of her times
- Quentin Bryce- women can have it all but not all at the same time
- Julia Gillard-for her dignity during difficult times
Where do women sit in the greater global picture?
Wikipedia has a list of the top 100 most powerful women in the world, consequently I see gender as secondary to the skills and talent now required for a position.
